Farm Aid 2009 Presented by Horizon Organic will be hitting St. Louis in just a little over two weeks. Any of you stragglers out there should know that you there are a very limited number of tickets available from Live Nation.We'd really love for everyone to be able to join us, but we know not everyone can make the trip for October 4. Luckily, you can still watch all the action on DIRECTV's The 101 Network. Just like last year, it'll be broadcast live in HD with surround sound! The show starts at 4pm and runs for six hours.
If you're not a DIRECTV subscriber, or would rather watch the concert on your computer, we'll also be showing a live webcast presented by EternaGreen™ on our website. There, you'll also find blog posts about all the sights and sounds from the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater and exclusive Farm Aid photos.
If you're in the St. Louis area tonight, you can dine out to support Farm Aid! Click here for a list of participating restaurants. And if you'll be in town closer to the concert, check out these other events where you can get in the Farm Aid spirit with great music and family-farmed food.

ReplyDeletethis is my 10th farm aid concert. i too, am wondering who else is getting added to the line up. it hasn't changed since the tickets went on sale.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, how long are we going to have to wait to find out who else is going to be at this year's concert? It is now only 12 days away and still no word. So far it looks like the smallest number of performers ever. It looks like second-hand tickets on StubHub, eBay and other places aren't even selling for face value at this point, and I'm guessing the lack of lineup information is much of the reason why.
ReplyDeleteThe line up was supposed to be added to I thought as we went along over the past couple weeks, but nothing new since the beginning. When I bought my tickets I did not blink twice about paying the premium price, but I was going according to previous years concerts and the amount of amazing bands that played. I sure hope this line up changes and more good bands get added!
ReplyDeleteWhile the originally announced line up of principals is always good, many people by tickets to Farm Aid based on expectations of additional big acts..In the past there have always been some quality additions. This additional line-up can only be described as Anemic at best, and sad to put it mildly.
ReplyDeleteBilly Joe Shaver, Will Dailey, Ernie Isley & the Jam Band, Ryan Bingham & the Dead Horses, the Blackwood Quartet, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, and Titty Bingo are new names added to the lineup of Farm Aid, taking place Oct. 4 at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater.
It is simply unacceptable that there is not a single FEMALE ACT on this bill. If this is the final line up it is UNACCEPTABLE for those that spent $250.00 dollar in tickets.
Please pass this on to Willie or the organizers the it is simply beyond the pale that there is ZERO female representation..no female even moderate stars.
And to make it worse ZERO members from the St. Louis musical Community that could have provided help.
I am being flooded with e-mail from associates who have spent hard earned money for a good cause and they are very disappointed actually they are pissed off.
Please remedy the situation of no female performers it's simply wrong. If this is the final line-up they will be screaming from rafters..

ReplyDeleteWow, I like Billy Joe Shaver, but overall this has to be the worst Farm Aid lineup ever. Sad really that this group off additional acts is what we waited for. I haven't even heard of most of them, and they certainly aren't headliners. Good thing you sold all those $200 tickets BEFORE you announced the lineup.
ReplyDeleteWillie please get Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Gllian Welch, Sheryl Crow, Chrissy Hynde, Martina McBride,Neko Case or Susan Tedeschi on the Horn..Some one.. anyone to improve this woeful additonal line-up announced today..Many dollars spent on this cause with the expectation of additional NAMES being announce..

I'll second the Bottle Rockets.. it'd be cool to have a home town band that brings that much energy to the show. I also agree that having no female artists just seems wrong somehow.

ReplyDeletePerhaps Farm Aid could add some talented Female and Male farmers to their line up. God knows Farmers need to promote themselves at this time of economic crisis!!!! It is tough out here and our thoughts and PRAYERS need to go out to the FAMILY FARMS that are trying to make it through these difficult times. THANK YOU to Farm Aid for help support and promote FAMILY FARMS. If you haven't lived it you have no idea how tough it is. Save the Family Farm!
ReplyDeleteI bought tickets to this show at 200 dollars a pop early in the game based on the principal performers (Board) but also based on historical precedent and expectations. That is to say the constant reminder that "More Acts to be Announced as we Get Closer".
ReplyDeleteAt a minimum this is very misleading marketing and a bit unfair in the sense that expectatons were raised as to the addition and higher end tickets were purchased in some instances related thereto.
In light of this I hope Farm Aid adds one or two additional earlier acts with name recognition. And I agree that it is Odd that there are no women on this bill.
Most Family Farmers don't have $200 to pay for concert tickets. They are trying to pay the feed bill and the electric company, the implement dealer, etc...................THANK YOU for helping Farm Aid with your Purchase of these tickets. You are helping to save a Farm. A FAMILY FARM.
ReplyDeleteFunny there were no seats left to purchase on live nation last week and then last night 100's of seats became available for purchase. Some of the seats available for purchase last night were better seats then what I got and I bought pre-sale member tickets. My tickets were purchased within minutes of the pre-sale tickets going on sale. 9:02am central time, mine were paid for, done and I had my confirmation! Sure, I got good enought seats, but there were even better seats than mine being offered on live nation last night!! Pisser.... Not to mention I don't thik I could sell mine if I tried because of the poor line up. I sure hope something changes here.
ReplyDeleteFrom a Farm Aid booking and marketing point of view they should have made it clear that Announcement of Wilco and Jason Mraz was basically the sum and substance and it in terms of any other medium to bigger name acts added.
ReplyDeleteThey did not..but instead chose to announce the "Additions" 10 days prior to the show..
Farm Aid is a great cause..and money well spent. But does not negate the poor handling of the timing and content of the additional acts..
Really? Four American icon performers and a great cause and all you people can complain about is the line-up?

With the last two. I've never actually thrown a concert so I am going to guess that it's harder than making a few phone calls and picking everyone's favorite top selling artist.
ReplyDeleteI have eaten really fresh food from the farmer's market though and that's why I am giving Farm Aid my $200.
we might not be farmers but we are hard working americans who have bills to pay also. we save all year to support the farmers and what we want is a good concert.were coal miners and 4 airplane tickets 2 nights in a motel 4 concert tickets food etc. is a month in the hole underground.no fresh air there...

Great job.
This will be my first Farm Aid Concert. By my standards and financial means I am making a MAJOR expenditure to support this cause. In addition to tickets, travel, lodging etc. I have supported the photo contest. I am an excited and thankful struggling family farmer.
ReplyDeleteI am unemployed for the first time in my life. With a family to support and a mortgage, two car payments and kids in private school. I can't afford to go so I am working the concert with the caterer and hoping to meet some of the performers and some cool farmers. Are there any 420 friendly farmers out there?
